  • where necessary, helping you obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any witnesses;
  • preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf, which we anticipate will take two hours;
  • Attendance at a Home Office interview: if the Home Office ask you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice (and discuss the possibility of us attending with you) at the appropriate time. This could be between one hour for preparing you and three hours of work.
  • giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take.

The amount of hours depends on the number of documents, whether they need to be translated, whether anything is missing and how long it will take to obtain the missing documents Disbursements (not included in costs set out below):

We will normally be able to submit this type of application within 2-3 weeks of you instructing us, but we will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer than this.

Please note the anticipated number of hours and fees are an estimate based on the facts above. All applications are likely to vary and of course, we can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more information about your specific case.

The costs quoted here do not include:

WORK INCLUDED AND KEY STAGES

The precise work and stages involved in an immigration application will vary according to the circumstances. However, we have set out the key stages involved in a typical application:

  • Discussing your circumstances in detail and confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make and what other applications may be available to you.
  • Giving you advice about the requirements of the Immigration Rules and whether you meet the criteria.
  • If you do not meet the criteria, whether this can be overcome and how.
  • Considering the supporting evidence, you have provided.
  • Where necessary, helping you to obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any witnesses.
  • Preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf.
  • If the Home Office asks you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice and discuss the possibility of us attending with you.
  • Giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take.

SERVICES EXCLUDED

Our service (for the fees provided) will not include any of the following:

  • Where the Home Office refuses your application, advice, and assistance in relation to any appeal.

FACTORS THAT COULD INCREASE DISBURSEMENT COSTS

In some circumstances, there may be increased fees to pay to account for additional time, work or skill required to meet your instructions. Examples include:

  • The length of time that an interpreter needs to spend on your case if it is complex.
  • If independent expert reports are needed to support your case e.g. medical reports.
  • If there is an interview with the Home Office and we attend with you, there will be additional charges to cover our travel expenses.
  • Additional charges for attending outside of London hearing centres

INTERPRETERS

These are difficult to estimate, can rack up and are a significant proportion of the overall cost to consumers. This means even ” fixed fees” may not always be particularly fixed.

We try to provide a clear range of interpreters’ costs at the outset of your case. Sometimes a client may only need a couple of hours with an interpreter or simple page documents to be interpreted, other applications may need 10 or 15 hours or may have many documentations for translation.

Often clients will bring a friend or another community figure to come and help interpret. It is important to note that clients do not always have to use an interpreter of the firm’s choosing and can choose their own interpreters or translation company.

In all cases we endeavour to provide you with a clear fee at the outset of your matter and upon initial instructions, should the instructions change, and it is apparent that additional fee may be applicable, we always notify you in advance of any work being done so we can agree costs in advance.
